Put down the video games and pick up some culture with our Excursion Quest to the Hunter Museum of American Art! If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to see a masterpiece up close (or you just want to impress your friends with fancy art lingo), this quest is for you. Prepare to explore a collection that spans from the 1700s to contemporary art—yep, that’s a long time. From sculptures that make you go “wow” to paintings that make you say “hmm,” there’s something for everyone.
We’ll kick off the day by venturing through the Hunter’s stunning galleries, which offer everything from traditional landscapes to abstract masterpieces that might just look like your last school project (but trust us, it’s way deeper). Along the way, we’ll learn cool facts about the artists and see if we can decipher the meaning behind a few head-scratchers—don’t worry, there are no wrong answers in art appreciation!
After we’ve filled our brains with culture and our phones with artistic selfies, we’ll enjoy a relaxing packed lunch overlooking the beautiful Tennessee River. If you’re lucky, the view might even inspire your next great work of art—stick figures totally count.

Ticketing Information:
- Quest Holder Tickets: Perfect for budding artists and culture enthusiasts, this ticket grants access to the museum’s galleries and a guided, slightly goofy art experience.
- Grown-Up/Chaperone Tickets: For parents and guardians who want to soak up some art and maybe show off their knowledge of “impressionism,” choose a Grown-Up Ticket or grab one of the limited Chaperone Tickets (only 4 available).
- Tag-Along Tickets: Designed for our youngest artists-in-training, this ticket provides full access to the museum and must be paired with a Grown-Up Ticket. Paintbrushes not included (but imagination is!).
